If you are not a resident of Dubai or the UAE, it is possible for you to open a bank account in
the emirate. However, this only covers savings accounts since non-residents are generally not
allowed to open checking and current accounts. As with regular savings accounts, there may be a
minimum amount required to open an account as well as a requirement to maintain a minimum
balance in the account. You are also issued an ATM card that you can use to transact at bank
machines in Dubai.
The requirements are:
A valid passport
A visitor’s visa
Proof of address
Proof that you have a bank account in your country of residence. Depending on the bank, this can be in the form of a copy of your ATM card or a bank statement.
In addition, some banks may also require you to provide a letter of recommendation from a current UAE resident.
